Dr. Petra Illig, a Medical Doctor (MD) has been in private practice in aviation medicine in Anchorage, Alaska since 2001. She is highly experienced in processing FAA medical certificates quickly and efficiently and she also is certified to perform DOT Physical Exams for commercial drivers (CDL) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG). She charges $95.00 for Coast Guard or CDL medical examination.

Dr. Illig, MD, is certified medical examiner (CME), listed in the National Registry in November 2013 and is also Listed in the FasterTruck DOT Physical Locations Directory for Alaska.

In May 2014, Dr. Illig completed training from the medical team at Virgin Galactic and is currently approved by Virgin Galactic to perform medical screening examinations for spaceflight participants to determine their health status in relation to suborbital flights.

In 1998 she became the first Regional Medical Director of Aircrew Health Services for Delta Air Lines. Although her primary role was as a flight surgeon, she also had oversight of passenger medical emergencies. She was instrumental in developing the airline’s in-flight medical emergency response system, which is in effect to this day.
